United Way Worldwide and jcpenney:
Working Together to Improve Outcomes for Youth
United Way Worldwide and jcpenney's partnership reflects our shared belief that involving young people in high-quality, engaging out-of-school time opportunities supports their academic success and development. jcpenney's partnership with United Way Worldwide dates back more than 80 years. In the last few years, the partnership has focused on developing tools, providing technical assistance and offering grants to United Ways and their partners to work together to improve the quality and sustainability of all programs in their communities and to ensure that students who need them most have access to out-of-school time programs. As a result of this partnership, local United Ways have built their capacity to engage community stakeholders; they have engaged partners, parents, educators and youth to develop a common vision for out-of-school time; and they have worked to improve program quality and participant outcomes.
